Apple's iPad WiFi + 4G renamed 'iPad WiFi + Cellular' across many of its online stores - MobilEgypt

Remember Apple's new iPad WiFi + 4G? Well, forget that moniker, as this variant of the company's latest slate has been quietly re-dubbed as the iPad WiFi + Cellular. As noticed by 9to5Mac , the change occurred within the last "24-48 hours" across many of Apple's region specific webstores, including (but not limited to) those for the US, UK, Australia, Canada and various countries in Asia. If you'll recall, in many regions the best you'll get out of the slate is HSPA- connectivity (although, the slate is also equipped for LTE) -- something that Apple itself had considered good enough to be considered 4G, even after offering refunds to customers in Australia who (like many others) can't partake in its LTE. Interestingly, 9to5Mac also notes that a similar change hasn't made its way over to the iPad 2, which still has its cellular- equipped variant still dubbed, iPad 2 WiFi + 3G. We're reaching out to Apple for comment, so stay tuned. In the meantime, feel free to hit up the source links below for more insight.

HTC Thunderbolt Gets New Non Ice Cream Sandwich Update - MobilEgypt

Since HTC announced it will upgrade Verizon's Thunderbolt to Ice Cream Sandwich at some point, every update that is not the hotly anticipated Android 4.0 matters less and less for those who are anxiously waiting for the important update. Dubbed software version 2.11.605.19 710RD , the update is pushed OTA (over the air) as of right now, though the official changelog still appears as “Coming Soon” at Verizon. Keep in mind that this update leaked last month in the form of a RUU file, so those who already flashed it won't need to do it again. Hopefully, this will be the last maintenance update before Verizon and HTC decided to start pushing the long awaited Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update for HTC Thunderbolt. Although HTC Thunderbolt was initially launched last year with Android 2.2 Froyo out of the box, the smartphone already received a Gingerbread upgrade and is now expected to get another major update that will bring its firmware to Ice Cream Sandwich. All in all, the latest software update is around 61MB in size and it will take around 15-20 minutes to download it. An additional 10-20 minutes will be required for the update to install. Once the update is installed, it will be enabled with the Wireless Alerting System and it will support Cisco Any, which improves the VPN functionality of the smartphone. According to HTC, the latest update will also improve data connectivity, as well as device stability, which will translate into fewer device resets. More improvements have been added to the default mail application, which will allow Yahoo! Mail accounts to receive messages properly. It is also worth mentioning Thunderbolt devices won't be plagued by some bugs that previously affected users' overall experience, as HTC provided some fixes for these issues. For example, the update resolves all issues with Mobile Hotspot connectivity. In addition, all incoming calls now display the correct state, when applicable.

Verizon Rolls Out Motorola DROID X2 Maintenance Update - MobilEgypt

Two months ago, Verizon Wireless published the official changelog of a software update for Motorola DROID X2, though it did not provide any details regarding availability. Although the DROID X2 was launched at Verizon exactly one year ago with Android 2.2 Froyo on board, Motorola and Google have already delivered an Android 2.3 Gingerbread upgrade. The latest software update is meant to add some new applications, as well as to improve the phone's overall security, performance and stability. Software update 1.3.418.MB870.Verizon.en.US for Motorola DROID X2 is pushed OTA (over the air) in waves, so users might have to wait a bit more until they will get notified on the new software. Although the official changelog is still listed as “Coming Soon,” the folks over at AndroidCentral claim that DROID X2 users have already started to receive the update, which is 35MB in size. According to Verizon, it will take about 10 to 20 minutes to download the software, but that mostly depends on network conditions. Installation should take up to 5 – 10 more minutes, so make sure the DROID X2 has enough battery. Motorola DROID X2 owners who have yet to be notified on the update can check for it manually by going to Settings / About phone / System updates / Download. One of the most important changes is the addition of a Google Security Patch, which is meant to improve the security level. Furthermore, the DROID X2 will be pre-loaded with Verizon Video and VZ Navigator 3D City applications. It is also worth mentioning that the smartphone will be enabled with the Wireless Alerting System. Several fixes have been included as well, such as shortcut names, which can now be updated and saved, as well as the purchased ringtones that are now able to be saved and set. Last but not least, the keyboard Input Auto Error Correction setting now defaults to off.

Samsung Galaxy Aurora Concept Shows What Galaxy S IV Might Look Like - MobilEgypt

Samsung’s Galaxy S III – the company’s latest Android flagship device – is getting ready to make an official appearance on shelves in late May, a perfect opportunity for enthusiasts to start dreaming of the next smatphone in line, the Galaxy S IV. Galaxy S III brings along top-of-the- line hardware capabilities and features, which will most probably be offset by the various enhancements that its successor is expected to include. Coming from Alexander Black (via Concept-Phones), the Samsung Galaxy Aurora concept phone appears meant to offer a glimpse at what the future Galaxy S flagship could include. The project is not finished as of yet, but it can still impress, even if the Android 5.0 operating system flavor from Google was not packed in it. Galaxy Aurora sports a quad-core application processor that was clocked in at 2GHz, for increased performance capabilities.
It would also include 4G connectivity capabilities, wireless router chip built-in, a heat resistant screen, and a 12- megapixel photo snapper on the back, while being powered by a 3500 mAh battery that should offer 20-22 hours of talk time. Galaxy Aurora would also come with a sleep mode for when you are resting your eyes, and will feature S Voice capabilities. Additionally, the device will be aware of the environment, thus being capable of silencing itself when needed.
Over all, these features seem good enough for a successor to the powerful Galaxy S III, even if some of them would rather appear futuristic to you. However, it would not come too much as a surprise to learn that future smartphones will indeed include such capabilities, and that Samsung themselves decided to include them inside their next flagship Android device. After all, they did manage to bring top-of-the-line features inside each of the new Galaxy S model. However, keep in mind that this is only a concept device, and that not all of these get to arrive on shelves in the end.
