HTC One X and One XL to Receive Jelly Bean in October - MobilEgypt

Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC Corporation might begin the delivery of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean to its HTC One X and One Xl smartphones as soon as next month, the latest reports on the matter suggest. MoDaCo’s Paul O’Brien suggests that the unlocked flavors of these two devices will get the update in October, and that all other versions, including carrier branded ones, will receive the new software before Christmas. Of course, nothing has been officially confirmed on the matter for the time being, but the rumor might actually pan out, especially with Jelly Bean out on the market for three good months now. No info on when HTC One S will taste Jelly Bean has been provided, yet we can expect it to receive the update soon after One X, HTC Source notes.

HTC Amaze 4G Orders Postponed at T-Mobile USA Due to “an Unforeseen Issue” - MobilEgypt

Since HTC and Apple have been battling in court, each had the upper hand at some point. This time it’s Apple who managed to stop sales of HTC’s products in the United States. Although the Taiwanese handset manufacturer has built a tremendous hype around the HTC EVO 4G LTE, which was supposed to be released via Sprint on May 18, Apple obtained an exclusion order for the smartphone. This means that until the problem is resolved in court, or settled between Apple and HTC, customers won’t receive their pre-ordered EVO 4G LTE units. AT&T customers will soon be in the same position as HTC One X shipments are stuck at US Customs as well. Today, the folks over at TmoNews got word that at least one other HTC product might be affected by this exclusion order issued by ITC. It appears that customers who order the HTC Amaze 4G via T-Mobile USA’s online store are getting strange messages in return, which somewhat confirms that the carrier does not have the smartphone anymore and no clue on when it might be back in stock. Instead, customers who order the HTC Amaze 4G are recommended to purchase the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G as a replacement, though no further explanation is offered. Below you are presented with an excerpt of the letter sent to all customers who order the HTC Amaze 4G via T-Mobile USA’s online store: “Thank you for your recent order. We wanted to let you know that your order for the HTC Amaze has been delayed due to an unforeseen issue with receiving the product from the manufacturer. At this time, we do not have an estimate as to when the product will be available. Because we don’t know when the product will be available, we recommend that you choose an alternate device.” For the time being, this only affects the US, so Android fans living in Canada are still able to purchase any of the above mentioned devices, though there’s no telling for how long. Since HTC and Sprint announced the launch of the EVO 4G LTE has been delayed indefinitely, there's been a lot rumors and speculations on what's going to happen with those who already pre-ordered their devices. The bad news is that customers won't be able to cancel their HTC EVO 4G LTE pre-orders until they refuse the delivery or call Sprint for a return authorization kit. Although the smartphone was slated for a May 18 release at Sprint, all HTC EVO 4G LTE shipments are now stuck at US Customs due to an exclusion order issued by ITC against this smartphone. Moreover, ITC issued the same exclusion order for HTC One X as well, so it's only a matter of time until US stocks are depleted. Even though HTC officially stated it is working closely with US Customs to secure approval of its shipments, there's no telling how much time is gonna take the Taiwanese company to settle these issues. However, there are some good news also. The folks over at AndroidCentral have been tipped on the possibility of HTC EVO 4G LTE being released by Best Buy on May 23. Apparently the retailer is informing its customers who pre- ordered the HTC EVO 4G LTE via email, that the smartphone's release date has been changed to May 23. This is only a 5 days delay for the launch of the HTC EVO 4G LTE , which is decent enough for such a highly hyped handset. For the time being, we have no information that would indicate Best Buy will be able to fulfill all HTC EVO 4G LTE pre-orders, but there's a slight chance that other retailers might receive their stock around the same time frame. HTC One X, the high-end quad-core Android- based mobile phone that HTC made official in February at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, arrives on shelves with a crippled multitasking experience, recent reports unveil. Apparently, users have discovered that the new tweaks that HTC introduced in HTC One X to handle multitasking are resulting in unexpected behavior. The Taiwanese mobile phone maker has changed the vertical scrolling of apps to a horizontal one in the new Sense 4.0 UI loaded on its HTC One X , but made another important change as well. Users report that the device is force- closing the applications that run in the background, which results in a crippled experience. The stock Android platform does not do so, which clearly shows that the Taiwanese handset vendor has made some modifications in the area. However, it appears that this is how the smartphone was intended to behave, at least this is what the company reportedly told The Verge. “HTC is aware of some questions in the enthusiast community about how the HTC One X handles multitasking and memory management for background apps,” the vendor’s official statement on the matter reads. “We value the community's input and are always looking for ways to enhance customers' experience with our devices. That said, right now multitasking is operating normally according to our custom memory management specifications which balance core ICS features with a consistent HTC Sense experience.” At the moment, HTC One X users who would like to benefit from a different approach to multitasking than the one available on their devices should look elsewhere, though chances are that the vendor will review its position on the matter. Based on user feedback, HTC might decide to alter the current multitasking behavior of its smartphone, though no promise on this has been made, especially since the company is seeing this as a feature of the device, not as an issue.

Many mobile phone users in the United States were eagerly waiting for two new HTC smartphones to make an appearance on shelves in the coming weeks, but it seems that they are out of luck. Said devices, the HTC One X for AT&T and the HTC EVO 4G LTE for Sprint, got hold up at customs due to an exclusion order issued by ITC. The United States International Trade Commission issued the order back in December at Apple’s bidding. Those of you who might kept an eye on the legal dispute between Apple and HTC are certainly familiar with the issue and know that the order was set to go into effect on April 19th. For the time being, these two smartphones are the only ones we know of to have been affected by the ruling, but we might expect for other HTC devices to suffer a similar fate, if things don’t get sorted out soon. HTC has already announced the delay, but it was unable to provide additional info on the matter, a recent article on Engadget reads. “The US availability of the HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been delayed due to a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order,” HTC reportedly had to say on the matter. “We believe we are in compliance with the ruling and HTC is working closely with Customs to secure approval. The HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE have been received enthusiastically by customers and we appreciate their patience as we work to get these products into their hands as soon as possible.” The HTC EVO 4G LTE was expected to arrive on shelves at Sprint as soon as this week, on Friday, May 18th, but it might not be able to make it to the party.
