Many mobile
phone users
in the United
States were
eagerly
waiting for
two new HTC
smartphones to make an
appearance on shelves in the
coming weeks, but it seems that
they are out of luck.
Said devices, the HTC One X for AT&T
and the HTC EVO 4G LTE for Sprint,
got hold up at customs due to an
exclusion order issued by ITC.
The United States International Trade
Commission issued the order back in
December at Apple’s bidding.
Those of you who might kept an eye
on the legal dispute between Apple
and HTC are certainly familiar with the
issue and know that the order was set
to go into effect on April 19th.
For the time being, these two
smartphones are the only ones we
know of to have been affected by the
ruling, but we might expect for other
HTC devices to suffer a similar fate, if
things don’t get sorted out soon.
HTC has already announced the
delay, but it was unable to provide
additional info on the matter, a recent
article on Engadget reads.
“The US availability of the HTC One X
and HTC EVO 4G LTE has been
delayed due to a standard U.S.
Customs review of shipments that is
required after an ITC exclusion order,”
HTC reportedly had to say on the
matter.
“We believe we are in compliance with
the ruling and HTC is working closely
with Customs to secure approval. The
HTC One X and HTC EVO 4G LTE have
been received enthusiastically by
customers and we appreciate their
patience as we work to get these
products into their hands as soon as
possible.”
The HTC EVO 4G LTE was expected to
arrive on shelves at Sprint as soon as
this week, on Friday, May 18th, but it
might not be able to make it to the
party. Keep an eye on this space for
additional details.
