Samsung Mobile PIN Shops Readying for GALAXY S III Launch - MobilEgypt

With only four days left until Galaxy S III sales kick off, Samsung has officially launched special standalone stores, which are meant to offer customers the possibility to fully interact with the company’s latest Android flagship smartphone. They will be called Samsung Mobile PINs and will be the first European locations to sell the Galaxy S III, starting in London from May 29. The South Korean company also confirmed the first two Samsung Mobile PINs will open on May 29 in London at Westfield Shepherd’s Bush and Old Spitalfields Market. However, Samsung plans to launch two additional PINs in the UK at some point this summer, which will be located in Hyde Park and Olympic Park. According to Samsung, “the conceptual idea of the PIN is a moving landmark experience like a pinpoint on a map.” Customers who are willing to pay a visit to such Mobile PINs will meet Samsung’s fully trained staff members who will share their product knowledge and provide demos, and even allow them to try out other smart mobile devices, functions, services, and apps. Design-wise, the Samsung Mobile PIN’s walls are entirely made of glass, which makes it is easier to move to different locations. In fact, the PINs walls are built with “a two-way customized mirrored glass.” Visitors will also have the pleasure to take part in various events surrounding the Mobile PIN, such as the Galaxy Studio event. Hands-on sessions for Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note will also offer customers the opportunity to learn more about the features of these smartphones. Drawing competitions using the Galaxy Note will also be opened to all visitors. “We welcome everyone to this dynamic and energetic place to fully experience and enjoy all the core features of Samsung mobile products,” said Younghee Lee, Samsung’s senior vice president and head of Global Marketing at Mobile Communications Business.

TELUS Refreshes “OS Upgrade Schedule,” Promises ICS for Galaxy S II on June 12 - MobilEgypt

Canadian carrier TELUS has updated its software upgrade schedule once again, but this time we have more details on certain devices. For example, the operator says it is going to upgrade the Samsung Galaxy S II X to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on June 12. Although the release date is subject to change, at least we’re certain the update will come next month. Furthermore, the Galaxy Note is also mentioned in TELUS scheduler for software upgrade. According to the carrier, the smartphone will receive its Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update sometime in late June. We suspect that TELUS and Samsung plan to update the Galaxy S II first, soon followed by Galaxy Note. Two Galaxy Tab tablets will also get their Android 4.0 ICS updates in late July, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1, though we don’t have an exact release date for either. Apparently, TELUS and Sony Mobile plan to provide Xperia ray owners the possibility to upgrade their devices to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich beginning late June. In addition, LG Optimus LTE will also get the Ice Cream Sandwich update sometime in mid-July. The official document has also confirmed Android 2.3 Gingerbread is currently available for LG Optimus Black, while Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi has just gotten the highly anticipated Android 4.0 ICS update. In addition, HTC Amaze 4G has been confirmed for an Ice Cream Sandwich update on May 28, so we should expect it to arrive in about a week. Nokia Lumia 800 and LG Optimus 7 Windows Phone devices are expected to receive software updates as well, though the carrier does not unveil any details for the moment. The former will get it in early June, while the latter will receive it on June 6. Last but not least, BlackBerry Bole 9790 is slated for a 7.1 OS update in early June. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 Now Available in the US - MobilEgypt

As expected, Samsung introduced the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 in the United States. The slate is now available for purchase from major retailers across the country, such as Amazon, Best Buy, Tiger Direct, Walmart, Office Depot and others. According to Samsung, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 can be purchased for a suggested retail price of $399.99 USD (310 EUR), though not all models are available at all retailers. The new launch follows Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 release on the US market. The latter is now up for order for only $250 USD (195 EUR) via Best Buy. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 does not come with a quad-core processor as previous rumors suggested. Instead, Samsung packed a dual-core TI OMAP 4430 CPU clocked at 1 GHz, along with a PowerVR SGX540 graphics processing unit and 1GB of RAM. The tablet comes with only 16GB of internal memory, but users can expand it further up to 32GB via microSD card. Software-wiser, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is powered by Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, which is complemented with TouchWiz UX user interface. The slate can be turned into an excellent TV companion by using it as a universal remote. At the same time, users can multitask on the web while watching and wirelessly stream the live feed from a TV to the slate. In addition, the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 provides access to more than 450,000 apps via Google Play and Samsung Apps, as well as to thousands of TV shows and movies via Wi-Fi. It also packs microUSB 2.0 host support, allowing for blazing fast file transfer. As the name suggests, the tablet sports a large 10.1-inch PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen display that supports 800 x 1280 pixels resolution, and features Corning Gorilla Glass coating. Just like its Galaxy Tab 10.1 predecessor, the new tablet drains energy from a 7000 mAh Li-Polymer battery, which is rated for up to 200 hours of standby time or up to 10 hours of continuous usage.

LG LS970 with Android 4.0 ICS and Quad- Core CPU Headed to Sprint - MobilEgypt

It looks like Samsung Galaxy S III won’t be the only Android flagship smartphone that Sprint plans to launch on its airwaves. The guys over at BriefMobile have been tipped on the upcoming LG LS970 device, which is a top tier Android phone that sports a large display and powerful processor. The good news is that the LG LS970 will be shipped with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system out of the box. The bad news is that the smartphone is slated for a Q4 2012 release. The screenshot of the unannounced device that has just been leaked online confirms that the handset is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. In addition, the smartphone is said to boast an impressive 4.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display with HD (probably 720 x 1280 pixels) resolution. There are speculations that the screen is in fact a “True HD” IPS display, but there aren’t any details available that might confirm these speculations. Furthermore, the LG LS970 is packed with LTE support and touch-sensitive keys, instead of on-screen ones. So far, there are no additional details on the smartphone’s specs sheet, but we already know the important things. Even though the source of the leak did not specify which chipset the LG LS970 will pack, but there are speculations that this would be one of the first devices to embed a TI OMAP5 chipset, which is expected to arrive on the market in Q4 2012. According to the latest hearsay, the LG smartphone slated for a Sprint release will combine the power of a quad- core processor with the speed of LTE technology. Last but not least, the LG LS970 smartphone is dubbed LG G, though we’re not sure what the “G” means. We expect this LTE-enabled smartphone to be announced this fall.
