In an attempt
to sweeten
the wait for
the hotly
anticipated
Android 4.0
Ice Cream Sandwich update for
Xperia phones, Sony announced it
had teamed up with several
accessory brands to help consumers
personalize their handsets.
The Japanese handset maker inked
partnerships with several well-known
accessory brands, which are meant to
offer Xperia phones owners the
possibility to customize their devices
as they see fit.
Starting mid-May, new accessories for
Xperia phones will be launched on the
market by the following brands:
CaseMate, AGF, Incipio, Krusell, Dicota,
Copter, Muvit, Roxfit, Orbyx and
Shinnorie.
According to Sony, these partnerships
were a necessity as the company
wanted to give customers the option
to truly personalize their Xperia
phones.
Moreover, Sony claims that the
accessory brands picked for these
agreements are perfectly capable to
deliver products that will give Xperia
phones that extra cool individual look.
“We know that when you look to buy a
new smartphone, the quality and
choice of accessory on offer is
important. So, we’re keen to ensure
that our consumers get the very best
selection of cases and shells for their
favorite smartphone ,” a Sony
spokesperson said.
However, these might not be the only
brands that Sony teams up with, as
the company says that the companies
mentioned earlier are only the first to
respond positively to its “new
partnership program with case and
accessory manufacturers.”
Unfortunately, Sony’s initiative had not
been well received by Xperia phone
users who are still complaining the
Japanese handset maker is still
struggling to deliver the Ice Cream
Sandwich update.
In fact, Sony Mobile has big problems
as the latest Android 4.0 ICS update
for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and
Xperia ray is a disaster.
Sony fans who own any of the three
smartphones and upgraded to ICS
have been complaining about bad
performance after the update, but
Sony has yet to respond to these
complaints.
