Sony is
preparing the
unveiling of
new
smartphones
in the highly
popular
Xperia lineup, there’s no doubt
about that.
One of these could be the ST27i/
ST27a smartphone, which was just
spotted in UAProf listings, and which
is said to feature the codename of
Lotus.
The ST27i version is supposedly set to
hit shelves as the international flavor
of the mobile phone, while the ST27a
variant might be destined for the
United States alone.
The two versions of the device are
listed with Google’s Android 2.3
Gingerbread operating system on
board, though they might arrive on
shelves with Ice Cream Sandwich right
from the start.
Moreover, the user agent profiles for
these two models unveil that Sony will
pack them with a touchscreen display
capable of a 480 x 854 pixels
resolution (FWVGA).
The Sony Xperia Lotus is also said to
pack a ST-Ericsson NovaThor U8500
application processor inside, a dual-
core chip that has been clocked at
1GHz.
The UAProf listings also show that,
while the ST27i will pack support for
GSM 1900/1800/900/850 MHz (I) / 900
(VIII) MHz and WCDMA 2100 bands,
the ST27a will arrive with support for
GSM 1900/1800/900/850 MHz 1900
(II) / 850 (V) MHz and WCDMA 2100 (I)
frequencies.
Rumor has it that the new Sony
smartphone will come on shelves with
similar touchscreen capabilities as
other new Xperia devices from the
handset vendor, but that it would
sport a more compact form factor.
Those who would like to learn some
more info on these versions of Sony ’s
codename Lotus smartphone should
access this UAProf for the ST27i, or
this page for ST27a.
Lately, Sony has been rumored to
launch other new Xperia smartphones
as well, but the company hasn’t
confirmed anything officially as of yet.
Most probably, details on its
upcoming handsets will arrive soon,
so stay tuned to learn more on them.
